Jacques Dumont

A reluctant early retiree from the North of France, Jacques is bored in the small, winemaking village of Pont-de-Peyne. He misses the cut and thrust of his old working life, whatever that was, and he misses female company – his loyal black cat Mimi ‘can’t really compensate for a warm-blooded woman’.

Jacques is friendly with his neighbours but gives little away about himself, and suspicions are growing about his sexuality. He puts an end to these rumours by inviting Monique for a meal, and things get interesting in The End of Summer.
